The Dutch company AZS Media Group developed the first search engine for Muslims. When entering a search term, the search engine analyzes, if it is consistent with the Islam. Inappropriate content leads to a warning. Reza Sardeha of AZS Media Group explains: “We believe, that to this day, many Muslims avoided the internet and protect their children from it, as they are afraid that underage persons will be able to easily access pornographic material.” If you enter the term ‘porn’, the search engine will return a high-level error – without any search results. If e.g. “Paris Hilton” is typed into the search engine field, a warning will also be displayed, but at a lower level – search results will be listed. However, as a matter of course, only non-erotic and non-pornographic results come up.
