Google and China obviously came to an agreement regarding the porn filter of google.cn. In July 2009, China blocked the complete offer of google.cn nationwide, as links to pornographic contents could be found among the search result links. As a result of that, Google modified its search algorithm in order to remove the objected links from the search results. In the meantime, China officially approved the new porn filter of Google. Google.cn can be fully accessed again. However, Google does not only filter pornographic offers in China, but also unpleasant historical events, such as the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Google points out that some results are filtered and not displayed. When searching for a well-known Chinese human rights activist, you get the note, that contents that do not comply with laws, regulations or policy, cannot be displayed.
